Passo Tonale

Limit western Val di Sole, the Passo del Tonale can be considered borderland in fact, until a few decades ago was in fact the step that divided the Kingdom of Italy from Tyrol Ausrto-Hungarian Empire. Land contention during the great wars, the scene of fierce battles, the mountains around up are still dotted with remnants of war and fortifications, some of which, like Forte Strino, refurbished and used as a museum.
Now the Passo del Tonale marks the border between Trentino and Lombardia, as well as what divides two majestic mountain groups: Adamello-Presannella geographic position on the right of Val di Sole and Ortler Alps on his left.
The ski area of Tonale dotted with numerous Hotel, enjoys a good reputation nationally, it is because that is one of the few where you can enjoy skiing through summer courses made over 2500 meters of altitude glacier behind the top Presena.
